As a responsible and informed dog lover, you probably know that too much “people food” can make your dog ill or overweight, but there are some human foods that can be safely added to your dog’s meals in moderation to give a nutritional boost to  your dog’s diet and a delicious treat.

We don’t use any artificial flavourings, colourings, preservatives or colourings in any of our foodstuffs. Nor do we add any ingredients that maybe harmful to a dog’s health in any way - including salt or sugar.

Oats are a good source of dietary fibre and complex carbohydrates and can be of benefit  to dogs that may have trouble maintaining bowel regularity. All our oats and oatmeal comes from a local supplier.

Carrots are a good source of vitamin C which benefits your dogs vision, heart, skin and lungs. They are also rich in betacarotene which can help to protect against cancer.

As you all know dogs cannot eat chocolate - it’s a killer. So we use carob as a safe and healthy alternative. Carob is ground from the pods of the tropical carob tree and is naturally sweet, low in fat and has no caffeine. It’s full of vitamins, including vitamin A - necessary for good vision, and vitamins B1 and B2 which aid growth. It is also rich in calcium, protein, iron, potassium and magnesium.

Eggs are a great source of very digestible protein, riboflavin, and selenium. For some dogs that are prone to digestive upset, eggs can give them a little protein boost. Our eggs are always organic and free range - we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s well known that fleas hate garlic and most dogs love it! It's anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti parasitic.

Alongside the garlic we use parsley as an aid to digestion. It is also associated with helping with rheumatism and arthritis and, traditionally is used in cooking as a balance for garlic.

Brewer’s yeast is the yeast that’s left over from making beer and dogs seem to really enjoy the tangy taste of brewer’s yeast - Arthur loves it. It’s full of B vitamins which are good for skin, coat, and carbohydrate metabolism.

Apples make a great doggie treat. Apples with the skin on are full of plant chemicals (phytonutrients) that are thought to be protective against some types of cancer in humans - we include the skin in our treats but not the core and seeds as they do contain cyanide; of course the odd few wont harm your dog but over time the amount in the concentrated in the blood stream could mount up. They are a source of vitamins A and C and fibre.

We use olive oil in most of our recipes to help give your pet a shiny coat and strengthen nails

Peanut butter is packed full of vitamins A and E , folic acid, calcium, magnesium, zinc, fibre and iron.
