Why I'm called Arthur Baker 08/04/2010
Sometimes people ask me why my surname is Baker and not the same as my mum and dads. Well here's the reason: I was named after the legendary American DJ/music producer Arthur Baker. That Arthur Baker's as big a legend as me - he worked for hip-hop label Tommy Boy Records, where he produced Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force's "Planet Rock" single, which was a hit in the summer of 1982. Also during 1982, he produced the single "Walking on Sunshine" by Rocker's Revenge featuring Donny Calvin which hit number one on the U.S. Dance chart on September 18 that year. In 1983, Baker found work doing dance remixes of pop and rock hits, first with Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark," "Cover Me," and "Born in the U.S.A." from his Born in the U.S.A. album. In 1984, Baker contributed his "Breakers' Revenge" to the Beat Street score and movie soundtrack, which he also helped produce. Following these successes, Baker came to the attention of Manchester band New Order, who asked him to produce their songs "Confusion" and "Thieves Like Us" (and Baker can be seen in the video for Confusion - he's the big guy with the long hair - the DJ in the club is Jellybean Benitez another legend of proto house music). This established a relationship between Baker and the band that has continued for more than 20 years. Like me Arthur Baker likes his food and, after moving to London in the 1990's, established the Elbow Room's chain of bars and a soul food restaurant called Harlem. The human Arthur Baker knows all about me and has even mentioned me on his radio programme. So there you have it....that's why I'm called Arthur Baker! Post Title. 05/17/2010

I got in trouble with my mum and dad.....I didn't know I wasn't supposed to dig up the plants mum had planted...... My big head 05/12/2010
Mum and dad have replaced the coffee table in the lounge - the legs kept falling off the old one. They've got a clear perspex one......only one problem - I think its invisible! I keep bumping into it and when a toy goes under it I forget its there; stand up and bang my big 'ole head! MInd you I've seen dad trip over it a number of times so its not just me..... Can't get my head around this weather.....one minute I want my pillow on the decking so I can soak up a few rays....the next those grey skies appear and I'm barking at the backdoor to come in. Anyway - I've new neighbours an ickle pickle of an American Bulldog and a lady dog - I'm not sure what type she is - something like a whippet. She keeps jumping the wall and coming onto my patch and when I go out to play she goes and jumps back over the wall! Damn cheeky if you ask me! I overheard Mummy saying 'its a good job I don't know I can do that.' To be honest I do know I can do that but I'm just too lazy! Post Title. 11/25/2009
Oh my its cold and wet......keep sticking my nose out of the backdoor but don't fancy it much out there. Today day baked me my favourite Christmas pud doggie treats but he's being stingy and not letting me scoff them all....no matter how long I sit by the cupboard! Today 11/16/2009
Slept on the spare bed last night and got Mummy up early this morning - well you know how it is - needs must and all that. Went out for our morning stroll; came home; had some breakie and went upstairs to wake Dad - jumping on the bed always does the trick. He gets up and I've the bed all to myself - clever dog me! The smell of biscuits from the kitchen brought me downstairs before lunchtime - carrot and corriander if I'm not mistaken. New that if I hung around by the kitchen door for long enough doing that head to the side thing I do so well I'd get a couple of treats - never fails! This afternoon we went round the big field at the back of the house - it was cold and it was wet and I didn't see Trixi (she's a German Shepard hottie I met yesterday) but on the good side I was allowed off the lead the whole time. Did a bit of bounding through the grass and lots of sniffing in my usual places but to be honest was glad to get back into the warmth and my tent First Post! 10/23/2009
